about the artist

Tanya Stovold is a representational oil painter living in Sussex, UK.

Her work focuses on the figure and portrait. Tanya is drawn to capturing the actions, emotions, and inner lives of humans, creating paintings that go beyond surface aesthetics. Her narrative oil paintings are rooted in traditional techniques, but she brings her own voice to each piece — combining beauty with a distinctive, sometimes quirky perspective.

Tanya has trained through workshops and mentorships with leading contemporary artists, including Rachel Li, Alex Venezia, Scott Waddell, and Michael Klein, both in person and online.

Her paintings are held in private collections across the UK.

She is based in a private studio in the Sussex countryside, where she paints full time.
